We built the TUL rollerball around a brushed aluminum barrel that adds 18 grams of weight to the pen body. This heft shifts the balance point closer to the tip, reducing the wobble that lighter pens exhibit when you write quickly or apply angled pressure.

The fine point model uses a 0.7mm tip that produces narrow, precise lines ideal for small handwriting, detailed notes, and tight spaces like planner grids. The medium point version features a 1.0mm tip that creates bolder strokes suited for signatures, headings, and general writing on larger paper formats. Both use the same gel ink formulation and barrel design — only the tip size changes.
TUL rollerball pens are engineered specifically for TUL-branded refill cartridges, which match the barrel’s internal dimensions and ink delivery system. While some third-party refills may physically fit, we cannot guarantee consistent ink flow, tip alignment, or leak prevention with non-TUL cartridges. Using incompatible refills may void the pen’s performance guarantee.
A single TUL rollerball refill cartridge contains enough ink for approximately 1,200 meters of continuous writing under standard pressure. For typical office or student use patterns — about 2-3 pages of handwritten notes per day — one cartridge generally lasts 3-4 months. Heavy users who write 10+ pages daily may need to replace the cartridge every 4-6 weeks.
Our gel ink formula is designed to minimize bleed-through on paper stocks rated 20 lb or heavier. You’ll see minimal ghosting on standard copy paper and most bound notebook pages. Very thin paper like newsprint or low-grade notebook paper may show slight show-through, but the quick-dry formula prevents wet ink from soaking through to create true bleed marks that would interfere with writing on the reverse side.
Yes, the quick-dry ink formula dries in under three seconds, which helps left-handed writers avoid smudging as their hand moves across fresh ink. The rubber grip section works equally well for both standard and inverted grips. Many left-handed customers report that the weighted barrel balance reduces the hand fatigue they experience with lighter pens that require angled pressure to maintain contact with the page.
Currently we offer ink refill cartridges as the primary replacement component. The retractable mechanism and clip are integrated into the barrel assembly and are not sold separately. If your pen experiences mechanical issues with the retraction system or barrel damage, we recommend contacting our customer service team to discuss warranty coverage or replacement options rather than attempting self-repair.
We manufacture fine point refills in three core colors: black, blue, and red. Black remains our most popular option for business documents and formal correspondence. Blue is commonly used for personal notes and editing marks that need to stand out from printed text. Red serves well for corrections, highlighting important passages, or color-coding systems in planners and notebooks.
